Access Appogee Goals by going to There are three ways to log in - Email address and Password, G Suite Log in, or Office 365 Log in, your details will be in your welcome email, or alternatively contact your Administrator.

Once you're logged in, you'll be presented with the Dashboard. 

This is split into three sections, My Actions, My Teams and My Summary. 

My Actions will show you and Goals awaiting your approval, My Teams will show you your Team Goals and a Goals by Status widget. 

My Summary will show you all the Goals you collaborate on, split into Company, Team and Personal Goals. Your Personal Goals are sat in My Goals.

A Goal follows the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework, which consists of an Objective (Goal) and Key Results. Goals are what you want to do or where you want to go, and Key Results are the factors or steps that are going to allow to to achieve that Goal. From the Dashboard or the My Goals section, open a Goal to view the detail. 

On the page, you will be able to see what type of Goal it is - Personal, Team or Company, and who it's associated with. If it's a Personal Goal it will be assigned to a user, if it's a Team Goal it will be assigned to a Team, Company Goals are generally for everyone to work towards. 

The page is split into different sections, each with a different purpose. The first box shows you the Goal Name, its duration, who it's assigned to or shared with, an overall progress percentage, and its status. You will be able to view the following statuses - Not Started, On Track, At Risk or Blocked. 

Next we have the alignment view, this will show you if the Goal has been aligned to any other Goal within the organisation, which will allow you to work in collaboration with others towards their Goals. 

The Key Results view shows you the Key Results associated with this Goal. You will be able to see the current progress of each Key Result, along with a sliding progress scale. The colours to the left of each Key Result will help you identify them on the graph below. 

Each time you update your Key Results, the graph will plot a point, showing you the progress over time. The more you update your goal, the more this chart will grow. 

The Timeline to the right of the page will show you all updates to the Goal, these can be filtered by type. Shout-outs show with a medal icon and Check-ins are shown with speech bubbles. 

Tasks & Initiatives are at the bottom, this is where you would put any tasks you need to undertake in order to achieve your Key Results.

Approving a Goal

Depending on the configuration for your company, you may be required to approve a Goal. You'll have received an email and will be shown in the Dashboard as soon as you log in, you can also see these in the My Approvals section.

 Click on the Goal to look at the detail - the Goal at the top, the time frame, the Key Results and any Tasks. You'll also be able to check if the Goal aligns to any other in the company and view the timeline of the draft process by toggling the filter dropdown. Review the details and choose whether to approve or reject the Goal. If you reject the Goal it will be put back into draft mode. If you approve the Goal and the start date is current, you'll be able to start working on it straight away. If the start date is in the future, the Goal will be ready to use when the start date comes around.

Updating a Goal

Key Results

If you are an editor of a Goal, you can update its progress by updating the Key Results. Either from the Dashboard or the My Goals section, open the Goal you wish to update and head to the Key Results section, click on a Key Result you wish to update. A dialog box will appear where you will be able to enter a new metric for your Key Result. Once you do this, the Timeline will update with your change, the total percentage of Goal completion will update, and an entry on the Goals Progress Over Time will appear. 


It's possible to give your colleagues Shout-outs in recognition for work they've done on a Goal. Open a Goal from the Dash or the My Goals section and click on the Shout-out icon in the top right corner. A dialog will open, where you'll be able to select which employee to Shout-out and your comment. Click Shout-out and the timeline will update with your comment and an email will be sent to the recipient. 


You can Check-in on a Goal at any time by clicking the Check-in button next to the Shout-out button. This can be used for any updates, comments, notes etc. Check-ins are not assigned to a particular user, but can be seen on the Timeline by anyone on the share list.

Goal Configuration

Some specific configuration is required to control the default sharing of information in Appogee Goals and who in the organisation is able to do what. 

Go to Process Config > Goals Configuration. You'll see config is split into 4 sections - Creation & Approval Goal Visibility, Key Results Formats and Tasks.

Creation & Approval

It's possible to determine which user roles can create and approve Goals in Appogee Goals. There are various combinations you can have of these, and they're split into Goal types. Company Goals, Team Goals and Personal Goals. 

Note: At least one employee in each required user role will need to approve. Additional approvers can be optionally added at Goal approval submission. 

Goal Visibility

A user can have access to view and Shout-out on a Goal if they are on the Collaborator list. It's also possible to Check-in on Goals, if you enable the Check-in setting at the point of sharing the Goal. The Goal Visibility section of the Goals Configuration page allows you to determine the Visibility of Goals for non-collaborators.

Note: users with the Goal Manager role have edit access to all Goals.

Key Results Formats

By definition, Key Results are quantitative and measurable; they need to be associated with a metric. Select which formats should be made available in Appogee Goals to assign to your Key Results.


Optionally, you can associate Tasks with your Goals. Use this page to switch these on/off on a Goal level. Associate Status Sets with your tasks so you can keep a track of the process of these.
